FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To assist potential customers, existing owners and installers, Nu-Flame has gathered together a list of general frequently asked questions. If you are unsure of any information or require further advice, please contact our technical department on 020 8254 6802.

All technical advice must be read in conjunction with the relevant installation instructions and adhere to the current regulations in force.

IS THE EVOLUTION GAS FIRE SAFE?

The Evolution gas fire has been tested to, and meets the latest European gas directives, and is CE approved. All Nu-Flame gas fires are fitted with an oxygen depletion system (oxy-pilot), designed to shut down the fire within safe limits if there is a build up of carbon monoxide in the room caused by a blocked flue or similar problem.

IS THE EVOLUTION FIRE SUITABLE FOR LPG?

Nu-Flame can manufacture gas fires suitable for LPG in either Class 1 or Class 1 & 2 models. Unfortunately we cannot convert a natural gas fire to LPG or vice-versa.

WHAT TYPE OF FLUE IS THE EVOLUTION FIRE SUITABLE FOR?

Due to the versatility of the Evolution burner, Nu-Flame is able to manufacture custom gas fires to suit either Class 1 or Class 1& 2 flues, subject to compliance with installation requirements. Evolution Models N1, N2 & N3 in natural gas and models L1, L2 & L3 in LPG are suitable for Class 1 & 2 flues.

CAN I CHANGE THE FUEL BED ON MY FIRE?

All Nu-Flame gas fires are CE approved for use with coals, pebbles, logs or driftwood. Please refer to the appropriate layout diagram in the instructions when changing the fuel bed. Fuel beds can be purchased through Nu-Flame.

DO YOU SELL GAS FIRES DIRECT TO THE CONSUMER?

No. Nu-Flame has always been a trade only supplier of gas fires. We will however sell spare parts direct to the consumer.

DO YOU MANUFACTURE FIREPLACES OR BASKETS?

No. Nu-Flame only manufactures gas fires.

DO YOU UNDERTAKE INSTALLATION & SERVICING WORK?

No. Nu-Flame recommends that all installation and servicing work be carried out by a CORGI registered gas installer. To find a local installer in your area please contact CORGI on 01256 372200.

DOES MY CHIMNEY NEED TO BE LINED?

Prior to the installation of a gas fire, Nu-Flame recommends that the chimney be swept, inspected and tested for leaks. In some cases the chimney may be in a poor condition and will need to be lined. If in doubt Nu-Flame recommends consulting a flue expert.
